AR-308 Billet 80% Lower Receiver – Overview
The “AR-10″ 80% Lower (designed for the LR-308 platform by DPMS) is a step up from the AR-308 Billet 80% Lower Receiver platform in performance and capability. By upgrading from 5.56 NATO to .308 Winchester or 7.62x51mm NATO rounds, you’ll easily ring steel out to 600+ yards. The LR-308 lower receiver is the big brother to the 5.56 NATO receiver and packs a bigger punch while allowing you to customize your build from scratch.
Is the LR-308 and AR-10 The Same?
Effectively, yes. Technically, no: Both rifle platforms use the same, exact types of parts and they function identically. But there are slight physical differences in the shapes of the rifles’ upper and lower receivers. This means an original AR-10 upper wouldn’t work on an LR-308. That’s okay, though — the AR-10 platform is decades old and isn’t produced for the civilian market.
The LR-308 platform looks, feels, and performs like the AR-10 and takes the role as the dominant .308-chambered AR platform. Grab an LR-308 build kit to assemble your .308 80% lower once it’s fabricated, and you’ll be ready for some long-range shooting.
